Data visualization is rapidly becoming a ‘must’ for journalists and newsrooms across the world. But how to integrate data journalism in traditional narratives, how to effectively use such interactive information displays? These issues will be addressed at the first Italian Data Journalism School: three days of full-immersion discussion and training with some of the top data journalists in Europe. An event co-organized in Rome, Italy by the <ahref Foundation and Istat (National Institute of Statistics).

Based on the Summer School model used in many International venues and expanding the Summer School 2011 project hosted by Ahref and Iulm, this event is reserved to professional journalists and reporters living in Italy. The School maximum capacity is 20 people; a scholarship will cover registration fees for four applicants (based on their merits and qualifications).

The program includes an introduction to data and statistics (promoted by Istat), specific sessions on datajournalism practices and tools, and a final day to produce actual projects. The preferential criteria for admission are based on age, datajournalism experience, and personal motivation.
