Founders

The Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), established by the Autonomous Province of Trento conducts research primarily in the areas of information technology, materials and microsystems, theoretical physics, historical studies of Italy, Germany and religion. Through its network, FBK also operates in the areas of networks and telecommunications and the social sciences (research evaluating public policy). The objectives of FBK are: to conduct internationally recognized research, including the further application of the results in selected areas of strategic importance to its home territory, to develop, enhance and disseminate research results and to promote innovation at the local level.

Informatica Trentina is the ICT development centre for institutions connected to the Trentino region. It contributes to the development of the Trentino region with the dissemination of new information and telecommunication technologies in the public sector, it defines technological innovation projects for the modernization of the public administration, and promotes the growth of relationships with local companies. Informatica Trentina plays a primary role as a catalyst for local innovation and research, in order to achieve the full implementation and integration of all local actors in the digital eco-system of Trentino and contribute to the modernization and innovation systems Information in Public Administration of the region.

The Autonomous Province of Trento is not one of the founders of the Foundation Ahref but was nevertheless the source of inspiration. Trento and its region are particularly attentive to innovation, with many cooperative enterprises and people who are directly involved in cooperative experience. This experience is consistent and compatible with what is developing on the Web. Sharing information, the recognition of individuals who come together to achieve common goals are all elements that confirm that the cooperative movement is something that is inspired by and has aspirations in common with the social environment that is emerging on the web and also explains why the Autonomous Province of Trento has felt the need to support and sustain the creation of our foundation.
